About Storied.

Every Timeline has a Story to tell. Storied helps people build stories on a timeline, so you can see how they unfolded.

What it is

A story is anything that develops over time: a war, a law, a tournament, a trial, a launch, a narrative, or frankly, just a point to prove. Anyone building a timeline decides. Storied lays events out on a timeline you can zoom and explore, with the articles, posts and papers behind each event, where there are any.

How a timeline is built

  • Paste a link. Storied reads the page and suggests which story it belongs to and which events it describes, with their dates. You check the suggestion and add it in a click or two.
  • Name a story. Type a few words to find a story, or start a new one.
  • Add events by hand, or click a point on a timeline to add one there.
  • Reading from your own browser. Some sites don't let other servers (ours included) read their pages. The + Storied button sends the page you're reading straight from your browser.

We use an AI model to create Stories and Events from your input. You always decide: you can change anything it suggests, or start your own story instead of joining Stories it offered.

Accounts

You can read public stories without an account. To add something, Storied makes you an account on the spot: a name and a password, no email needed. You can change both later. Keep the password safe because without an email there is no other way back into the account.

A story is public or private. Only its owner sees a private story. Public stories can be shared as a link, an image or an embeddable timeline.
